The five teams we had in tournaments performed OUTSTANDING, taking home three 1st places, a 2nd place and a 3rd place! Four recreation teams competed in the Lorain County Soccer League playoffs on Saturday, June 7th and one travel team competed in the Medina Invitational Soccer Tournament on Saturday, June 7th & Sunday, June 8th. Here is a little info on each team submitted by their coaches:
U9G Girls Rec - Coached by Joe Kasnyik & Tony Stefan - 1st Place
The LYSA U9 Girls Team, coached by Joe Kasnyik and Tony Stefan, defended their Fall First Place Tournament Trophy as they once again finished in First Place on June 7 as Co-Champions. They were undefeated for the season (8-0) and came into the tournaments in first place. Their first game was against Sheffield Lake. They won that game 4-1 as they passed and played as a team allowing four different girls to find the back of the net! The defense was right on and Sammie Stefan did a fantastic job defending her goal. The girls had to wait in the hot sun and enjoy snow cones from Coach Tony. Finally, the championship game was the last one played for the day. It was difficult to keep hydrated but the girls managed to keep battling against Amherst throughout the game. With the team down 2-0 minutes before the half, they finally managed to score. The second half seemed to be a defensive game from both teams. Lagrange was awarded the ball after a tripping call and the shot was made, bending around the Amherst wall, into the corner of the net... it was tied 2-2. Once again Amherst scored to make it 3-2. With time expired, Lagrange had one more chance to tie as a handball in the box was called. Koral Kasnyik placed a perfectly executed penalty kick once again in the net to tie the game and secure the First Place Co-Championship. (It was a team decision not to have a shoot-out. The girls from both teams agreed that no one was deserving of a loss. These girls truly showed good sportsmanship and respect for each other)
The Champions are Koral Kasnyik, Jena Copley, Lauren Shaw (the Bermuda Triangle) Sammie Stefan (goalie) Taylor Stefan,(defender) Madi Rising (defender), Heather Rising(wing), Holley Ziemba (mid/wing), Krisandra Mezera (wing) Kay Clement (wing), Gabbie Puke (defender).

U13/14/15G Rec - Coached by Jennifer Krugman & Zach Krugman - 3rd Place
First Game: LaGrange 0 vs. South Firelands 6
Started out the game strong going into half time down by two. But the heat and fatigue, being down a player and having no subs got to us and we were just looking to save our energy for the next game.
Second Game: LaGrange 2 vs. Midview 1
Came into this game having played well against Midview during the regular season and looking for a win. Lindsey Fleck scored with a left footed shot on a breakaway to put us ahead early in the game. Goalkeeper Jamie Stokley made many great saves throughout the game allowing Midview only one goal. Janell Roeper worked her way around a defender on the right side of the field and made a great shot to the back corner late in the game to give us the win. All the girls worked very hard this second game to get 3rd place.
Players: Angel Asberry, Brittany Banaska, Meghan Bremke, Samanatha Cyrus, Lindsey Fleck, Courtney Petifils, Emily Puka, Haley Radolec, Janell Roeper, Beth Shinsky, Jamie Stokley, Taylor Teehan
U10E Boys Travel - Coached by Tom Moran & Jay Grega - 2nd Place
First game: LaGrange Wildcats 8 vs. Medina Dragons 2
Second game: LaGrange Wildcats 8 vs. Blue Bazooka Sharks/Giants 4
Third game: LaGrange Wildcats 8 vs. Maumee Rockets U10 Blue 8
Championship game: LaGrange Wildcats 5 vs. Maumee Rockets U10 Blue 6
We had a great start to the tournament with two relatively easy wins on Saturday. Sunday was a much different story having to battle temperatures in the upper 90s and a very skilled opponent from the Toldeo area. We started out very sluggish in the Championship game and Maumee ran out to a three goal lead. With about five minutes to go in the game, we attempted a comeback with a goal that cut the score to 6-4, then another goal with less than a minute to go that had us down by one. We had control of the ball and started to drive for the tying goal when time expired. All of the players gave everything they had, but it just wasn't enough that day.
Players: Brandon Buttolph, Jordan Collins, Matthew Dobrilovic, Miranda Fedor, Joey Grega, Jason Hallman, JC Klinger, Corey Moffat, Joe Ritenour, Steven Speck, Shannon Wargo, Kelsey Yusko
